We can no doubt find many other examples like this, which show the need for a strong Social Pillar to combat inequalities, create new jobs and guarantee reskilling and social protection during the transitions.

The recovery based on the twin climate and digital transitions will only be successful if we become stronger and more cohesive as societies, if we correct existing inequalities without creating new inequalities between people or asymmetries between territories.

This is why we are here today – to renew the European social contract. It commits us all, each at our own level, to develop innovative and inclusive responses to promote decent employment, skills and social protection adapted to the needs of our times.

To give our citizens the confidence they need to face the challenges of the twin transition.
