Portugal condemns terrorist attacks in Mali

The Portuguese Government strongly condemns the terrorist attack carried out against Mali's armed forces, on 1 November last, which claimed the lives of about 50 soldiers.

The Portuguese Government further condemns the attack carried out the following day, 2 November, against a convoy of Operation Barkhane forces, which resulted in the death of a French soldier.

The Portuguese Government expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims, which add to the several hundred dead in recent years as a result of increased terrorist violence in the Sahel region. 

The Portuguese Government expresses its full solidarity towards the Governments of Mali and France, and reiterates its commitment, namely in the multilateral framework, to the fight against terrorism and extremism.
