Storm Kristin: Government began first payouts

The Government has begun the first payouts of assistance in the areas affected by storm Kristin. Around 12 000 requests were made, the Prime Minister said.

"Today, we are making the first payments. We have around 5 000 requests for assistance with reconstruction […]. Around 5 000 are processed at this time", Luís Montenegro claimed in statements to the press on the side of a visit to Montemor-o-Velho, in the Coimbra district.

The Head of Government, who is in the meantime in charge of Home Affairs, also indicated that around 3 500 requests by companies with access to credit facilities were registered, "with an amount already above 540 million euros".

"As for farmers and forest producers, we already have 3 500 [requests] processed also", he added.
