RRF: Portugal receives 7th payment

Recovery and Resilience Facility

Portugal received a new payment by the European Commission to the sum of 1.064 billion euros representing grants paid out under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).

This amount refers to the 27 milestones and targets fully validated for the seventh payment request, which included investments and reforms in strategic areas for the country such as healthcare and housing, corporate innovation, the energy transition, modernising public administration, equal opportunities, and schooling digitalisation.

"This payment is further evidence that Portugal is committed to fully meeting the RRF’s execution without delays and with the aim of not losing a single euro of the RRF grants", stated the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion. Castro Almeida further states that the remaining milestones and targets associated with the three pending payment requests will be met in the established timeframes.

The Minister stresses that the investments made under the 7th payment request represent "real projects that strengthen social cohesion, national competitiveness, the twin transition (digital and green), as well as international confidence".

With this sum, the total received from the European Commission is 13.797 billion euros. This payment is yet another milestone in the RRF’s execution.

The Government thereby reiterates its commitment to the country and the European institutions to continue implementing the reforms and investments in the plan in an efficient and timely manner so that Portugal and the Portuguese people can benefit from the expected outcomes and impacts.

Portugal has already delivered to the European Commission the 8th RRF payment request, with a total of 36 milestones and targets. It has also delivered the Revision for the Plan’s Simplification, an adjustment to ensure the full execution of all the milestones and targets by 31 August 2026.
