The Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro met on Tuesday with the President-elect António José Seguro at Queluz National Palace in Sintra. The meeting’s central theme was the Portugal Transformation, Recovery and Resilience Programme (PTRR).

The meeting enabled framing the programme’s goals and reach, which the Government took on as a national plan and a joint responsibility, geared towards protecting people, households, and companies, as well as preparing the country for the future.

With its execution expected until 2034, the PTRR is organised in three stages and based on the pillars of recovery, resilience, and transformation. The programme envisages assistance to the population and companies affected by extreme events, boosting national prevention capabilities, and the response to risks and integrating these priorities in the State’s modernisation process.

The programme’s overall funding will be set after a national consultation, combining European resources with national instruments, including the State budget and a responsible public debt management.

At the Council of Ministers press conference on 20 February, the Prime Minister had already informed that he had reached out to the President-elect to inform him of the PTRR’s main dimensions, stressing that the programme is not a continuation of the RRF, both in terms of method or goals.
