Minister of Justice visits Marocco in official capacity

The Minister of Justice Rita Alarcão Júdice is visiting Morocco in official capacity from 8 to 10 April for a bilateral meeting with the Moroccan Minister of Justice, a high-level trilateral meeting with Morocco and Spain, contacts with international institutions and the Portuguese community residing in the country.

The meeting with her Moroccan counterpart is part of the preparation for the 15th High-Level Portugal-Morocco meeting, enabling a deepening of the institutional dialogue between both Governments’ Justice areas, and preparing future cooperation moments between Portugal and Morocco.  

This is the first time a Portuguese member of Government attends a trilateral meeting of this nature with Morocco and Spain, strengthening political and institutional dialogue, and fostering new opportunities for cooperation.

The trilateral meeting between Portugal, Morrocco, and Spain is also part of the framework to boost cooperation between the three countries, which has been intensified since the joint hosting of the Football World Cup 2030, the bid for which was presented jointly.

The Minister will be in contact with the Moroccan Government officials, with UN and EU representatives, as well as the Moroccan National Human Rights Commission, addressing matters of institutional cooperation, multilateral dialogue, and an exchange of experiences in areas of common interest.
