The Government delivered in Parliament the Draft State Budget for 2026, the first one in this Government but the second one in Governments headed by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro. The draft budget was submitted prior to the deadline, which is 10 October.
The draft budget was delivered by the Ministers of State and Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Joaquim Miranda Sarmento and Carlos Abreu Amorim, as well as the Deputy Minister and for the Budget José Maria Brandão de Brito, and the Secretaries of State for Tax Affairs Cláudia Reis Duarte and for the Treasury and Finance João Silva Lopes.
The members of Government were greeted by the President of Parliament José Pedro Aguiar-Branco.
Parliament will discuss the draft budget in the general arena on 27 and 28 October, followed by the discussions in the Parliamentary committees. The specialist discussion will begin on 20 November, and the final voting is scheduled for 27 November.
