The Government leaves the discussion of its Programme "legitimised and confirmed" by Parliament, following the motion of rejection filed by the Communist Party, said Prime Minister Luís Montenegro in a statement to the press.
"Now, we must execute" the programme "and that is what we shall do, focusing on solving the problems that affect people’s lives", "forecasting our economy’s growth to generate more wealth and have greater social justice", he added.
To do so, the Government is counting on the backing it got in the elections and "the collaboration of Parliament and all the people’s representatives". "This is what came out of the Government Programme discussion", he concluded.
Parliament did not approve the Communists’ motion of rejection of the Government Programme, which was voted on favourably by PCP, Livre, and BE, PAN abstained and was voted against by PSD, Chega, PS, IL, CDS-PP, and JPP.
