Exhibition "Aníbal Cavaco Silva – the Prime Minister who transformed Portugal"

Aníbal Cavaco Silva is inaugurated Prime Minister of Portugal to head the Government in 1985.

This year marks 40 years since Aníbal Cavaco Silva was inaugurated Prime Minister of Portugal. To commemorate, the Official Residence of the Prime Minister will host every weekend of November an exhibition with 40 photographs taken by Rui Ochoa, which closely follow the governance over a decade of profound transformations in the country.

The exhibition is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday throughout November from 10 am to 4 pm. Entrance is free of charge.

The images document the period from 1985 to 1995 — the longest term in office for a Prime Minister in the Portuguese democracy – and are a tribute to the role Cavaco Silva played in Portugal’s economic and social modernisation, European convergence, and strengthening relations with the Portuguese-speaking world.
