Evoking the 25 November "to understand where we come from and what we wish to build in the future"

The Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro claimed that commemorating the 50 years since 25 November 1975 "is important for the country to evoke this memory and this historical record and bequeath it to all generations so we can understand where we come from and what we wish to build in the future" at the end of the military ceremony held in Lisbon.

Luís Montenegro watched the military parade with the Ministers of State and Finance Miranda Sarmento, of the Presidency Leitão Amaro, of National Defence Nuno Melo, of Justice Rita Alarcão Júdice, of Home Affairs Maria Lúcia Amaral, of Health Ana Paula Martins, of Environment and Energy Maria da Graça Carvalho, and of Agriculture and Fisheries José Manuel Fernandes.

The Minister of Justice Rita Alarcão Júdice stated the ceremony "honours Portugal’s history" and added that "it is important to reconcile with history and that is why it is so important to celebrate this day". 

The Minister of Home Affairs Maria Lúcia Amaral said "the ceremony honours the country and its history". "It did not disappear from our memory. It is a round date, half a century, a date that merits celebration".
