Average gross monthly wage per worker was1 694 euros in 2025, with a 5.6% increase, above the 4.7% set in the Triparty Agreement on Wage Rises and Economic Growth for 2025-2028.
According to the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, this evolution is a sign of the stabilisation of the ration between the average and the minimum wage after years of wage compression.
The increase represented a 3.2% real gain in purchasing power for households. The Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security Maria do Rosário Ramalho stressed that the sustainable increase in wages requires a combination of tax incentives with effective productivity gains.
