The Climate Agency (ApC), a body that falls under the Minister of Environment and Energy, paid up almost 72 million euros in benefits funded by the Environmental Fund, the Recovery and Resilience Facility, and other climate policy instruments.

This amount reflects the active and central role played by the ApC in turning the decarbonisation, energy efficiency, and bioeconomy public policy operational, ensuring a thorough, transparent, and timely execution of the funds being managed.

Among the payments made to a total sum of 70.9 million, we note the 8.47 million given to the BE@T consortium under the sustainable bioeconomy remit.

The project intends to consolidate an innovative, sustainable, and circular Portuguese textile and clothing sector, based on the local production of fibres and materials of an organic and renewable origin, using advanced and environmentally responsible production processes.

In line with the EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan, BE@T fosters territorial solutions for a more resilient, traceable, and circular textile industry, reducing external dependence and encouraging responsible consumption.

Another relevant payment was made under the energy efficiency in homes programme: PAE+S, an amount of 6.5 million euros.

This line of funding, which is close to its final stage, has supported thousands of households in conducting thermal insulation works, replacing windows, and installing more efficient climatization and hot water generation systems.

The programme’s impacts are concrete: less energy consumption, greater thermal comfort, and a cut in the electricity bill, fighting energy poverty and fostering greater quality of life.

A payment of 2,.76 million euros was made for decarbonising public transportation. This sum is enabling the replacement of municipal fleets with zero emission vehicles and setting up charging infrastructure, boosting sustainable mobility in the cities and contributing to carbon neutrality by 2045.

The Minister of Environment and Energy Maria da Graça Carvalho stresses that "the Climate Agency is showing it is possible to execute projects well and on time. These more than 70 million euros paid out in June reflect a strong commitment to the energy transition, to decarbonisation, and the country’s environmental modernisation."
