Climate Agency pays out more than 49 million euros

The Climate Agency (ApC), which falls under the Ministry of Environment and Energy, has just paid out 49.4 million euros to support decarbonisation, energy efficiency, sustainability mobility, and regional enhancement projects.

The assistance was funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the Environmental Fund, crucial instruments in the country’s green and energy transition.

With 10.9 million euros from the RRF, we note the following structural programmes:

In the Programme to Support More Sustainable Buildings 2023 (known as the windows programme"), more than 4.2 million euros were paid out for energy efficiency inventions in residential buildings, helping households lower consumption and improving the comfort in their homes.

In energy efficiency in service buildings: more than 860 thousand to modernise systems and facilities in public and private buildings, fostering the reduction of emissions and energy costs.

In sustainability and water use efficiency, 2.2 million euros were invested in the programme that supports agricultural projects that cut loss and optimise water consumption, contributing to a more sustainable management in water resources.

Hydrogen and renewable gas production was funded by over a million euros to diversity the Portuguese energy mix and speed up the transition to green energy, boosting the country’s competitiveness in this new sector.

Almost 512 thousand euros were for "Condomínios de Aldeia" (Village Condominiums) to foster the integrated management of rural areas, boosting communities’ resilience and reducing fire hazards by mobilising locally.

The "Floresta Ativa" (Active Forest) Programme was paid 56 thousand euros in benefits to boost the management and maintenance of forest areas, focusing on small properties and enhancing the rural regions.
