Government declares national mourning for the death of Pope Francis

The Council of Ministers approved today the declaration of three days of national mourning on the 24th, 25th and 26th of April as an homage to Pope Francis’s death.

This decision coincides with the funeral rites and reflects acknowledgment for Pope Francis’s relevance on an international level, as well as his closes ties to Portugal and the Portuguese Catholic community.

The Government expresses its heartfelt condolences to the Catholic Church, its followers, and all those who admired Pope Franics.
