State Budget for 2024 approved

Parliament approved the State Budget for 2023 on Wednesday 29 November.

After the voting, the Prime Minister António Costa stressed that "in 2024, the Portuguese will have a budget that follows along the trajectory of improvement in wages, which fosters investment, and protects the future".

"Throughout these eight years, we have been able to show that with an economic policy that invests in more jobs, more skills, more innovation, we would have more corporate investment, capacity to export more. Throughout these eight years, we turned the leaf on austerity and took the country from a situation of excessive deficit to one of solid and peaceful budgetary stability that now broadens the freedom of political choices. This means the country today has greater capacity, more freedom", António Costa added.
