The Prime Minister will be travelling to Alicante on 30 September to attend the South EU Summit, where nine Mediterranean and South Europe countries will meet. Besides Portugal and Spain, the host country, France, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Slovenia, and Croatia will also take part, as well as countries from the Mediterranean arch.
In this Alicante Summit there will be working sessions on open strategic autonomy, a focus on energy and economic governance. The Summit will conclude with a working dinner on "The Mediterranean in the future of Europe", where subjects such as the Eastern Mediterranean, South Neighbours and climate change will be under discussion.
