Portugal will attend G20 invited by Brazil

Upon invitation by Brazil, and throughout the Brazilian presidency of the G20, which starts in December and lasts through 30 November 2024, Portugal will be part of the group of eight countries invited to participate fully in the works of this important international platform for dialogue and political and economic cooperation.

Portugal identifies with the priorities indicated by the G20 presidency, namely with regard to social inclusion and the fight against inequality, hunger, and poverty, fighting climate change, sustainable development, and reforming the international institutions.

The Portuguese Government believes that through its active participation in the G20, it will contribute to a successful Brazilian presidency, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs in a statement, one that will reflect the commitment to multilateralism and international cooperation as the essential tools to counter the current global challenges.

The G20 has 19 countries and two international organisations – the European Union and the African Union.
