Portugal is the EU’s greatest bicycle producer

In 2022, 14.7 million bicycles were produced in the European Union. Of these, 18% bear the mark "made in Portugal". The numbers of bicycle production, imports and exports were disclosed by Eurostat on Friday.

According to the report by the EU’s statistics service, in 2022, bicycle manufacturing went up 10% on the previous year. If we go back ten years up to 2012, the increase in the number of units produced increased by 29%.

Next on the list behind Portugal we have Romania with 2.7 million bicycles, Italy with 2.5 million, and Germany with 1.7 million.
