6th High-Level Meeting between Portugal and France

Prime Minister António Costa will be travelling to Paris on 28 June where together with is French counterpart Élisabeth Borne he will preside over the High-Level Meeting between Portugal and France.

Focusing on the theme "Science, Innovation, and Education", as well as addressing the areas of Energy, the Environment, and Oceans, the aim of this 6th High-Level Meeting is to boost bilateral relations and make the most of the opportunities that arise from both countries investing in fostering research, science, and technology, the energy, digital and green transition as well as in oceans. 

The intention is to boost scientific exchange between Portugal and France, starting off a new stage in relations between academic institutions scientific institutions, and innovative companies. 

Encouraging teaching Portuguese in France and French in Portuguese is something that will also be addressed, as will be the common interest in preserving oceans and their potential – Portugal hosted the 2nd UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon and France will be hosting the third edition in Nice in 2025.

The following will also travel with the Prime Minister: the Minister of Foreign Affairs João Gomes Cravinho, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education Elvira Fortunato, the Minister of Education João Costa, the Secretary of State for European Affairs Tiago Antunes, and the Secretary of State for Maritime Affairs José Maria Costa.
