Speech by the Minister of Environment and Climate Action at the general discussion at the United Nations Water Conference

In the last 20 years, rainfall dropped by about 15% in Portugal and the more recent studies indicate that by the end of the century it will drop even further: from 10 to 25%.

These changes to the rainfall standards already have a highly significant impact on the quality of the water that flows into our rivers, as well as our dams and reservoirs.

This is just one of the consequences of climate change, that affects our water resources directly, affecting our communities.
