Secretary of State for Civil Protection in a meeting at the UN on Disaster Risk Reduction

The Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Patrícia Gaspar, will take part in the High-Level Meeting on the Midterm Review of the 2015-2030 Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction on 18 and 19 May.

This meeting, which will be held at the UN HQ in New York, will be a platform for Member States, UN partners and other stakeholders to reflect on the conclusions and recommendations of the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework and assess the context changes and new challenges that have arisen since 2015.

On the 18th, Patrícia Gaspar will attend the parallel event hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UN DRR), called "Disaster risk reduction in countries affected by multidimensional crisis" and will speak at the Plenary session called "Charting liveable paths for humans and nature ".

The meeting will have a series of side events, including bilateral meetings, of which we note the meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, Mami Mizutori, and with the Member States of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries – CPLP, both on 19 May.
