Announcements
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, and the Minister of National Defence, Helena Carreiras, will host their Spanish counterparts, José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation and Margarita Robles, Minister of Defence, for the first ministerial meeting between Portugal and Spain in the 2+2 format, destined to reflect on matters of common strategic interest in the current context.
The impacts of the Russian invasion on Ukraine, the security challenges in the European neighbours to the south, the interconnection between the NATO Strategic Concept adopted at the Madrid Summit and the European Union’s Strategic Compass, as well as with the Indo-Pacific are all on the agenda.
The meeting will be held on 14 September at Necessidades Palace.
