Portugal concludes process of ratifying Finland and Sweden joining NATO

Portugal concluded today the process to ratify the proposals of Finland and Sweden joining NATO by depositing the instruments to ratify Protocols to the North Atlantic Treaty in Washington, via the Portuguese Ambassador Francisco Duarte Lopes.

This process, of huge historical significance, underlines Portugal’s commitment to security in the Euro-Atlantic space.

The two countries joining NATO will contribute to strengthening the Alliance and to cooperation and solidarity in the fields of security and defence within the Euro-Atlantic space, an essential pillar of foreign policy and national defence.
