João Sobrinho Teixeira studied Chemical Engineering in University of Porto (1985) and has a PhD in Fluid Mechanics by the same University (1998).
He is a coordinating Professor of the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (Polytechnic Institute of Bragança – IPB), since 2001. From 2006 until July 2018 he was the President of the Institute.
Between 2009 and 2013 was the Chair of the Portuguese Polytechnics Coordinating Council (CCISP). Since March 2008 is a member of the National Commission of Access to Higher Education.
From 2011 to 2014 was member of the board of the European Network for Universities of Applied Sciences.
From 2014 to July 2018 was member of the board of the Associação das Universidades de Língua Portuguesa (Association of Portuguese Speaking Universities – AULP).
Since March 2018 is a member of the U-Multirank Advisory Board.
João Sobrinho Teixeira has received several awards both at national and international level.
