João Torres, in full João Veloso da Silva Torres, was born on April 24, 1986, in the city of Maia, Porto, Portugal.
Actually holds the office of Secretary of State for Commerce, Services and Consumer Protection.
Master of Science in Civil Engineering by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.
Secretary of State for Consumer Protection at the previous Government from November 2018 to November 2019.
Member of Parliament elected by the electoral district of Porto from 2015 to 2018, with competencies in the Parliamentary Commissions of Environment, Territorial Planning, Decentralisation, Local Power and Housing; Culture, Communication, Youth and Sports; Transparency.
Leader of the Socialist Youth from 2012 to 2016 and Vice-President of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group from 2015 to 2018.
