"Portugal and the United Arab Emirates are working hard to
ensure that trade between both countries will show a strong growth.
And let me make clear that Portugal sees UAE's investment as
very favourable, including our privatization programme", said the
Minister of State, Minister for Foreign Affairs at the end of a
working meeting with Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
UAE's Minister for Foreign Affairs.
According to Paulo Portas, "an economic cooperation agreement
should be signed later this year. The cooperation is noteworthy and

allow investment visas for those who want to make acquisitions in
the areas of tourism, or any other area that can create jobs in
Portugal", he added.
UAE's Minister for Foreign Affairs stated that he brought to
Portugal "a large delegation, representing many sectors".
"We addressed the importance of looking at the energy sector.
The UAE wants to diversify its presence in Portugal and we want to
see how we can work together in other countries, for example, in
Africa. We signed agreements in the energy sector and this is an
area we can work together in Portugal or elsewhere", the Minister
added.
GALP president Faria de Oliveira, Champalimaud Foundation's
