Assunção Cristas
Minister of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Spatial Planning
Assunção Cristas was born in Luanda in 1974.
She graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon, in
1997 and received her Ph.D., in 2005, from the New University of
Lisbon, where she lectures. Former Director of the Ministry of
Justice's Office for Legislative Policy and Planning (2002-2005),
she has been a consultant to the law firm Morais Leitão, Galvão
Teles, Soares da Silva e Associados since 2009.
Deputy Leader of the Democratic and Social Centre - People's
Party (CDS-PP) since 2009, she was elected Member of Parliament by
the Leiria Constituency in 2009 and re-elected in 2011. She served
as a Member on the Budget and Finance Committee and the Committee
on Agriculture, Regional Development and Fisheries.
She is a Member of the Society of European Contract Law
(Secola), the Deustch-Lusitanishe Juristenvereinigung and
Associação de Juristas do Direito de Língua Portuguesa.
