The launch of the new Study & Research in Portugal initiative illustrates the country’s commitment to knowledge, creativity and innovation.

Study & Research in Portugal is a platform dedicated to both students and researchers, companies and institutions of science and technology worldwide. It aims to value and promote higher education, science and technology in Portugal.

The initiative Study & Research in Portugal follows the Government’s commitment through the Ministerial Resolution (Resolução de Conselho de Ministros n.º 78/2016) that defines the guidelines for higher education, science and technology internationalisation, in order to promote public policies that value knowledge and skills development. The Portuguese Government acknowledges the prevailing role of higher education institutions and research centres, as places for knowledge production and sharing, therefore by spurring innovation they contribute towards social, cultural and economic development.

Higher education, science and technology internationalisation in Portugal showed an unprecedented growth process in recent decades, particularly by increasing students and researcher’ mobility, but also in what concerns to opening up its scientific activity and knowledge production to worldwide recognised networks, such as the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory - INL, European Space Agency, the Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire.

Study & Research in Portugal is a key tool to promote the country internationalisation in terms of scientific diplomacy, tourism, mobility, economy, heritage, language and culture.

Study & Research in Portugal’s video and digital platform (www.study-research.pt) have been presented during the visit of the Prime Minister to India.

Study & Research in Portugal is a programme launched by the Ministry for Science, Technology and Higher Education, together with the General Direction of Higher Education, the Foundation for Science and Technology, the Secretary of State for Tourism, and the Tourism of Portugal.
