Luís Capoulas Santos
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development
Luís Capoulas Santos was born in Montemor-o-Novo, in 1951.
He graduated in Sociology, in Universidade de Évora.
He worked in the Ministry of Agriculture, from 1977 to 1991.
He was member to the Assembly of Republic by Évora district from 1991 to 1995, from 2002 to 2004, and he was reelected in 2015.
He was Secretary of State of Agriculture and Rural Development from 1995 to 1998 and Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries from 1998 to 2002.
He was member of European Parliament between 2004 and 2014.
He was spokesman of the Agriculture Affairs of Socialist and European Democrats Group.
He was vice-president of Euro-Latin-America Parliamentary Assembly.
He was rapporteur of European Parliament for the reforms of Common Agricultural Policy of 2008 and 2013.
